What are the main contents of the decoration of a weak current computer room?
2025-08-12

Division of core functional areas

Equipment Area When placing core weak current equipment (such as switches, routers, servers, optical transceivers, security NVR/DVR, Internet of Things gateways, etc.), it is necessary to reserve installation space for equipment cabinets (the standard cabinet size is mostly 19 inches, with a height of 42U/47U), and the cabinet spacing should be no less than 1.2 meters (for the convenience of operation and maintenance personnel). The distance between the cabinet and the wall should be no less than 0.8 meters (with reserved space for heat dissipation and wiring).

Patch panel area: Patch panels (such as network patch panels and voice patch panels), patch panels, cable managers, etc. are centrally arranged. They should be placed close to the equipment area to reduce the length of patch panels (to avoid signal attenuation), and are usually arranged in the same column or adjacent columns as the equipment area.

Operation and maintenance area: Set up operation consoles (width ≥1.2 meters, height 0.75-0.8 meters), monitors, keyboards, mice and other operation and maintenance tools. The view should be wide (to observe the operation status of the equipment), and it should be far away from the heat dissipation ports of the equipment (to avoid high temperature affecting operation).

Auxiliary area (optional) : If the computer room is large (≥20 square meters), a storage area (for storing backup equipment, cables, and tools) and an emergency lighting distribution box area can be added. These areas need to be physically isolated from the core equipment area (to avoid interference).

Spatial dimension requirements

The electrical system is the "lifeline" for the stable operation of the weak current machine room. It needs to meet the requirements of uninterrupted power supply, safe grounding, and low interference. The core consists of three parts:

Power supply system

Power configuration: Adopt "dual-circuit power supply" (main power supply + backup power supply to avoid equipment downtime caused by single-circuit power failure). Core equipment (such as servers, core switches) needs to be connected to the UPS uninterruptible power supply (capacity is calculated based on the total power of the equipment, with 30% redundancy reserved. For example, if the total power of the equipment is 10kW, the UPS capacity should be selected as 15kVA).

Distribution equipment: An independent distribution box is set up in the computer room (marked as "Special for weak Current Computer Rooms"), equipped with leakage protection devices (operating current ≤30mA) and surge protection devices (SPD, protection level ≥20kA, to prevent damage to equipment caused by lightning strikes or voltage fluctuations). The cabinet adopts PDU power distribution units (16A/32A, with overload protection, and each cabinet has at least 2 PDUs).

Cable laying: The power supply cables shall use copper core flame-retardant cables (such as ZR-YJV-0.6/1kV), and be laid through metal cable trays or PVC pipes (maintaining a distance of ≥300mm from the weak current cable tray to avoid electromagnetic interference). The cable markings shall be clear (indicating "main power supply of the machine room", "UPS power supply", etc.).
