At the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2020, China solemnly committed to the world that it would strive to peak carbon emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. The government work report of the 2021 National Two Sessions clearly stated that all work related to carbon peaking and carbon neutrality should be solidly carried out.

With the continuous advancement of science and technology, it is expected that the replacement cycle of electrical and electronic products will be further shortened, and the amount of discarded electrical and electronic products in China will also continue to increase. According to the prediction of the international environmental organization "Greenpeace", the weight of scrapped electronic products in China will reach 15.4 million tons and 27.22 million tons respectively in 2020 and 2030, with an average compound annual growth rate of 5.86%. It is estimated that by 2030, the total value of recyclable metals in the circuit boards of discarded computers and mobile phones will reach 160 billion yuan. The recycling and utilization value of electronic waste is considerable.

Computer value

Through processes such as component disassembly, crushing and sorting, used laptops are decomposed and recycled to produce still usable computer components, plastics, as well as metals like copper, iron and aluminum. A Dell laptop weighing 2.7 kilograms can break down 0.488 kilograms of plastic, 0.244 kilograms of aluminium and 0.015 kilograms of iron.
